ABOUT me:
I am a high school English and art teacher, who owns more books and art supplies than I know what to do with. I really enjoy brains, but I’m not a zombie…yet. I’m a total nerd, in case you haven’t already figured that out. I’m also in a crazy band which involves wearing ridiculous costumes, but does NOT involve much practice at home (which is a good thing, because I play a big drum. A REALLY big drum). Social justice and community activism are a big part of my life. So is my coffee shop. Thus it is important that my housemate shares some core values around the essential goodness of all peoples, AND all coffees. I like having rambling conversations about all and sundry. But don’t worry, this does not mean I like to talk endlessly at you until you want to die. Or poke out your own eye. Or mine.
I enjoy being social at home with my housemate, sharing the occasional meal, etc. I am an excellent cook and enjoy sharing food love with others; this includes you as well as having friends over fairly regularly. I am omnivorous but also am very adept at accommodating various food restrictions/preferences/etc. I do however have a penchant for unprocessed foods and will smote anyone who brings any twinky-like bullshit into my house. Just kidding. I won’t smote you; I’m a pacifist. I make my pie crust from scratch, yo.
ABOUT you:
You are responsible, reliable, gentle, emotionally mature, enjoy living with others and enjoy being social without feeling obliged to be social, and regularly exercise decent communication skills. Having a strong sense of compassion, kindness, and a global perspective are important, i.e. you don’t lose sight of the big picture for the love of piddley little details.
You are not strict about “mine” and “yours,” yet are conscious of the greater good...i.e. feel free to eat my avocado as long as you are the kind of person who will pick up an avocado for me next time you go shopping. You are the kind of person who replaces the cell phone you wrecked when you accidentally dropped it in the jug of mojitos. Neither should you be the sort of person who drops the cell phone *intentionally* into the jug of mojitos.
You are reasonably clean and tidy, without being a clean freak.
If a problem arises between us, you will communicate directly and gently with me about it.
ABOUT our Home:
Clean, which does not necessarily mean neat…i.e. I’m kind of messy, but at the same time I maintain household hygiene standards. Our home is a safe haven and is enriching for the soul and for the senses: a mix of everyday comforts, good wine, conversation, succulent colours and textures, intellectual and aesthetic stimulation, and random novelty.
Important:
no cigarettes, pot or drugs whatsoever, no heavy drinking either
no additional pets, two cats already live here
no tv
no control freaks/micro-managers
no late night partying
